Stories With REAL Impact
Storytelling For Urgent Action
An Immersive Audio Experience Leading Up to the EMTALA Supreme Court Decision (April 2024)
About The Project
The Need
In anticipation of the Supreme Court hearing the pivotal Moyle v. U.S. (aka EMTALA) case, Planned Parenthood Federation of America aimed to generate a compelling and immersive experience at a rally.
The objective was to underscore the critical importance of maintaining federal mandates that require hospitals to provide necessary emergency medical treatments, including abortions. The case involved scenarios where such treatments are crucial to prevent severe health outcomes or death.
The Project
Our team was enlisted to conduct seven hour-long interviews with patient advocates and healthcare providers, transforming these conversations into four multimedia stories that brought to light the real-life implications of restricted access to emergency medical care.
The stories were showcased as part of an engaging audio experience during a rally in Boise, Idaho, leading up to the timing of the Supreme Court's deliberations.
Impact
These multimedia narratives not only enhanced the rally's impact but also played a crucial role in informing and mobilizing public support.
By presenting the personal and often harrowing experiences of those affected by restrictive health policies, the project contributed significantly to the ongoing debate and advocacy for safeguarding comprehensive emergency medical care rights.
The stories were also used to call for advocate action via e-mail marketing, sms, and robo-calls.
